Very simple directions for how to add a kit to the database!
NOTE: This is NOT a MARC record! It’s very simple and is NOT tied to your catalog. This is a completely separate system.
VIDEO
- Once you have logged in, scroll down to Admin: KitKeeper Configuration, and click Add/Modify Information next to Kits.
2. Scroll all the way down to the very bottom. In very tiny green letters, in the center, is a link to “Add New Kit”.
3. The first line is already auto-populated with gmlc.
Next, add the title as it appears on the cover.
The next line, for alphabetical sorting, asks you to enter as “Help, The” if applicable.
Author is entered as Surname, Forename.
Select the genre, and age group.
You can copy in a description from your catalog or Amazon.
Ignore the cover image- if you put in the ISBN later, it should automatically pull from Amazon.
Skip the section in green.
4. Select your library from the drop down menu.
Enter the barcode you have assigned to the kit, and the ISBN.
Skip the Google line.
In Kit Contents, enter the number of copies you have, and any additional materials, such as discussion questions.
Kit status should be “active”. Skip the rest of the rows until you get to the bottom.
5. Skip most of the boxes in the middle and scroll down to the bottom.
Team is automatically populated with GMLC.
If you have any extra backup copies of the book, you can add a note.
Skip down to “Route for kit to follow” and select “6 weeks” from the drop down menu.
Below that, for “Kit reservation type” select “FLEX”.
If you are satisfied with the information, click to “Add Record”, or you can cancel to start over.
6. And that’s it! You will be returned to the Kit menu, and you should see it immediately. You can also check how it looks in the GMLC interface that’s open to the public.
Congratulations! You did it!
7. If you need to edit any information in the future, you would start the same way, Kit configuration, kits, add/modify information. Find the kit in the list, and click the ‘edit’ button.
